November 2005: Kinetic Special Vehicles meeting the demands of a Twenty First century police market
From its 6.5 acre site in East Yorkshire, which includes over 47.500 square feet of production space, leading specialist vehicle company, Kinetic Special Vehicles is excelling in providing police forces across the country with bespoke vehicles that meet the demands of a Twenty First Century police market.
Having recently announced its continuing commitment to the police market at this year’s NAPFM show, with a renewed focus and the unveiling of its new look logo, website and promotional literature, Kinetic is definitely moving forward!
This commitment to the police market has already paid dividends and the company is delighted to announce that it has recently won two new contracts with Gloucester and Surrey Police Forces.
Kinetic’s first contract with Gloucester, the company has been commissioned to design and build four PSUs and four cage vans, within a tight deadline of just 12 weeks and as part of its one-stop-shop arrangement with Mercedes Benz. The contract with Surrey police will also involve the design and build of two PSU vehicles.
Kinetic is also proud to announce major contract wins with the Northern Ireland MoD, the British Transport Police, Durham Police and Cheshire Police Forces.
With a history that spans over 50 years, Kinetic Special Vehicles Ltdbegan its life in 1946 specialising in building truck bodies on the chassis of ex military vehicles. Since then the company has gone on to specialise in the police market, designing and building its first fully equipped mobile police station in 1982 and a year later, its first cellular prison vans using a design that was later adopted as a standard by the Home Office.
Since then Kinetic has produced over 350 prison vans of all categories. Expanding in 1994 to meet this demand the company was able to retain its position as market leader for the supply of custodial vehicles of all kinds.
Unveiling its new, purpose built factory last year, which increased production and workshop space by 13,000 square feet, Kinetic’s 50-strong workforce includes designers and skilled technicians who are specially equipped to deal with a wide variety of vehicle types. The management and senior employees at Kinetic are the same people who developed the first PSU vehicles and prison vans in 1980 and it is this experience which has become the backbone of the organisation.
Kinetic’s reputation has also enabled the company to forge close relationships with the major vehicle manufacturers which has led them to be able to offer ‘one stop shop’ arrangements with Mercedes, Volkswagen, Citroen, Iveco, Renault and Vauxhall.
With 50 years experience of working with the country’s police forces Kinetic has built a reputation for providing bespoke vehicles to a broad audience who require secure and discreet vehicles.
Mark Catley, one of Kinetic’s Directors, explained: “Kinetic is delighted to have renewed its commitment to the police market – a decision which is paying dividends with new contracts such as Gloucester and Surrey Police, the British Transport Police and the Northern Ireland MoD.”
“Last year we worked on vehicles for 26 different police forces and we are pleased to be able to add Gloucester and Surrey Police to our extensive list of clients.”
